The Catree

A concept in development rethinking cat-boarding through enrichment,
design and environment.

“The Catree is a new progressive approach to cat boarding, designed around cat psychology and behaviour. Traditional catteries tend to fall into two categories: clinical indoor units built for efficiency, or decorative “cat hotels” with chandeliers and velvet beds that appeal more to humans than for the cats. Having worked within these environments, it became clear there is a gap for something more considered, especially when compared to the progression seen in dog care, where environments are now designed around behaviour, stimulation, and social needs (e.g. dog daycares and dog play parks). The Catree responds to this by focusing on an outdoor, never-seen-before pioneering design within a woodland environment, with elevation, fresh air, and sensory richness at the core. It is not about luxury in the human sense, but about designing with purpose, an environment that mirrors how cats instinctively use space, where every element supports feline behaviour, wellbeing, and a more natural way of being. I’ve been developing The Catree as a long-term project, with the intention of partnering with the right operator to bring the concept to life and scale it through a franchise model, while I remain focused on the concept itself.”

The creator

Designer and maker based in Northamptonshire. I build physical products and design concepts that sit between object and experience.

I’ve always been creatively minded, but over the past two years my love for craft and designing with purpose has grown into something much bigger. I’ve been developing a product brand and also a longer term concept shaped by nature and my love of animals. I will be launching my brand Parallel this year and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
